Bookstore meets coffee shop in this restored 1920’s hunting cabin at the Waterfront Shops in Duck. Duck’s Cottage has been serving up delicious coffee drinks to caffeine-hungry visitors since 2002. Their Coconut Crunch blend is a best seller – grab a cup and enjoy it on one of the rocking chairs on their shady front porch. You can also often find unique fiction and historical books about the Outer Banks (for both adults and kids), and local authors offer offer book signings here.

Don’t be thrown off by the fact that this Duck restaurant is attached to the town’s only gas station – Cravings is a gem. The crab cake sandwich is out of this world, and the BrieLT is a Carolina Designs staff favorite. In the summer, you can enjoy live music here almost every night. Locals and visitors have really been enjoying the outdoor Tap Shack, a spacious back yard with a bar, music stage, plenty of cozy seating, and a plethora of outdoor games.
